Radioscopic Inspection

X-ray inspection is a non-destructive testing method that visually displays metal structures and defects. It shows internal porosity, cracks, or material changes.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

X-ray fluoroscopy uses high-energy X-rays that pass through metal and are imaged on a screen. Dense materials absorb more radiation than less dense ones.

Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding

This method is particularly useful for checking weld quality and integrity, especially in hard-to-reach areas. Misinterpretation can lead to inaccurate conclusions and potential defects being overlooked.

Workshop Practice & Action Guidelines

Use X-ray fluoroscopy regularly for checking weld quality, especially after heavy machining or on critical components. Make sure the equipment is correctly set and calibrated to get accurate results.
