Roll bonding adhesion

The mechanical-metallurgical bonding of two different sheet materials through plastic deformation in the rolling gap under elevated pressure and temperature.

Two different sheets are pressed together in the roll gap under pressure and heat and deformed. Due to the strong plastic deformation, the materials weld at the interface, with heat supporting diffusion. You have to make sure the materials match each other and the roll gap is clean. If pressure or temperature are off, the bond won't be homogeneous, and cracks or stresses can occur. Parameter selection depends on the sheet materials and the desired deformation.
