Rotational Induction Pipe Welding
Rotary induction pipe welding heats the pipe cross-section through inductive ring fields during rotation to ensure a homogeneous force fit.
Physico-chemical mechanism of action
Inductive fields generate electrical currents in the metal, which heat it. The rotation of the pipe ensures uniform preheating and prevents porosity.
Metallurgical relevance & welding risks
Uneven heat buildup can lead to stress formation, causing cracks. Too high a speed can overstress the material and lead to deformation.
Shop practice & instructions
Use a speed of 10-20 rpm for optimal results. Make sure the inductors are well matched to the pipe cross-section. The heat treatment should last at least 5 minutes.
