Rutile coated electrode
A welding consumable featuring a slag-forming coating based on titanium dioxide, ensuring stable arc characteristics and smooth weld bead profiles.
Rutile stick electrodes have a coating with lots of titanium dioxide. That makes the filler metal very user-friendly: the arc burns steady and soft, the weld pool is easy to control, and the slag is easy to chip off. You get a clean, smooth weld with nice wetting, even if you have not-so-clean material or a bit more gap. The weld is well suited for visible welds where appearance matters. But for high-strength or dynamically loaded structures, they are not the first choice; you're better off with basic electrodes.
