Backstep welding sequence

A technique where the total weld is divided into short segments and welded against the main direction to distribute the heat input.

Backstep welding means: you divide the long weld into short sections and weld each section against the main direction. This distributes the heat better and prevents the material from overheating in one spot and damaging the structure. Start at the back and work your way forward, piece by piece. Make sure the heat stays even and doesn't put too much heat into the part at once.
