Rutile Coated Electrode

Rutile stick electrode is a stick welding filler with a titanium dioxide-rich coating. It ensures easy restriking and fine-rippled bead appearance. Universal for mild steel in the workshop.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The rutile stick electrode consists of a titanium steel rod coated with a titanium-dioxide-rich covering. This covering ensures stable electrolysis and prevents the rod from melting at high temperatures.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

The rutile stick electrode promotes a fine-rippled microstructure and good weld toughness. It prevents the rod from melting, which could cause irregular weld appearance. Incorrect handling, however, can lead to overheating or deformation.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Use the rutile stick electrode for general welding on mild steel. Make sure the arc re-ignites regularly and no rod melting is observed. If re-ignition is a problem, check the covering and the electrolyte.
