Weld Pool Control

The visual and manual or automated monitoring of the size and consistency of the liquid weld pool. It is crucial to prevent burn-through or lack of fusion.

The weld pool is the molten area during welding. You have to keep an eye on it constantly and guide it so that it flows evenly and bonds cleanly with the base material. If you put in too much heat, the pool gets too big and runs away from you – that causes burn-through. If it's too cold, it doesn't flow properly and the weld doesn't bond cleanly. Control the weld pool via your travel speed and the movement of the electrode or torch. A calm, controlled pool is the key to a clean weld.
