Fusion welding flux analysis
Fused flux analysis determines the chemical composition and the oxide core diameter of fluxes. This is important for an optimal weld.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
The analysis measures the percentage of oxygen, carbon, and other elements in the flux. It also determines the diameter of oxide inclusions.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
Insufficient analysis can lead to porosity and reduced mechanical properties. Too high oxygen content can reduce strength, while too large oxide core diameter can cause hot cracking.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
For accurate analysis, flux samples should be prepared in a clean environment. Oxygen content is measured with a special device that determines the O2 percentage. The oxide core diameter is determined microscopically. If problems arise, check the flux production settings and adjust them if necessary.
