Shielding gas flow meter

A mechanical or electronic measuring device used to accurately monitor the volumetric flow rate of the shielding gas at the welding torch.

The shielding gas flow meter tells you how much gas actually reaches the weld. If the value is off, you don't have clean protection and the weld becomes porous or dirty. Make sure the device is clean and correctly set, and check the display regularly. Fluctuating or too low flow means: check the gas cylinder, inspect hoses for kinks or leaks. Only when the gas amount is consistently right will the weld be clean.
