Shielding gas test nozzle

Shielding gas test nozzle measures gas exit velocity and laminar flow rate to ensure the shielding gas is correctly delivered.

Physicochemical Mechanism of Action

The shielding gas test nozzle measures the velocity and volume flow rate of the shielding gas. It verifies that the gas is delivered in the required amount and at the correct speed to prevent porosity.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Incorrect settings can result in insufficient shielding gas being delivered. This can cause porosity and a poor weld structure, which affects the strength and service life of the part. Too high gas pressure or excessive velocity can contaminate or damage the material.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Ensure the shielding gas test nozzle is properly calibrated and checked regularly. The gas exit velocity should be between 10 and 20 m/s, depending on the material and welding process used. Continuously monitor the shielding gas output and make adjustments if necessary.
