Protective Gas Dew Point

The protective gas dew point is a measure of the residual moisture content in the furnace atmosphere during brazing. Low dew points prevent the reoxidation of reactive elements such as chromium or titanium in the joint gap.

The dew point tells you how much moisture is still in the shielding gas atmosphere. The lower the dew point, the drier the gas. If there's too much moisture, the material oxidizes during welding or brazing, and you won't get a clean joint. So make sure the gas cylinder or furnace is sealed and doesn't draw in moisture. If the dew point is right, the melt stays clean and the result is decent.
