Flux-cored arc welding

An arc welding process utilizing a tubular filler metal containing powdered flux in its core. It combines the high deposition rate of MAG welding with the metallurgical benefits of slag formers.

Flux-cored wire is basically a tube filled with powder inside. The powder melts along and forms slag that protects the weld pool and stabilizes the seam. That makes the process really strong and good for outdoor work because you don't have to watch out for drafts as much as with pure MAG.
