Welding procedure qualification record

Welding procedure qualification record is a document that records the actual measured values and test results of a successful procedure qualification test. It serves as verified proof of the correctness of the associated WPS.

Physicochemical Mechanism of Action

The welding procedure qualification record (WPQR) is an official document that records the actual measured values and test results of a successful procedure test. It holds information about the materials, processes and parameters used, to make sure the welding was carried out correctly.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

The WPQR is crucial for the safety and quality of the weld. Without a valid qualification, unacceptable defects can occur, like wrong material use or unsuitable process parameters. This leads to dangerous cracks, failures and a shorter service life of the weld.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

To obtain a valid WPQR, the following steps must be carried out:

1. Plan the procedure with correct materials and parameters.

2. Carry out the actual welding under supervision.

3. Log all measured values and test results in a structured document.

4. Submit the document to the responsible qualification body for verification.
