Welding Auxiliary Anti-Spatter Spray
A welding anti-spatter spray uses a thin, water-resistant film to keep spatter from sticking to the base metal.
Physical-chemical mechanism of action
An anti-spatter spray forms a thin, water-repellent layer on the material surface. This layer prevents weld spatter from fusing directly onto the metal crystals, which affects permeability and melting behavior.
Metallurgical relevance & risks when welding
Without an anti-spatter spray, weld spatter can lead to uneven melting and porosity. This can affect weld strength and cause cracks. Anti-spatter spray keeps water away from the metal crystals, ensuring even melting and a clean weld.
Workshop practice & instructions
Use an anti-spatter spray before starting the welding process. Spray the area evenly and let it dry for a short time (approx. 1-2 minutes) before you start fusing. Make sure the spray no longer emits liquid to ensure an optimal weld.
