Weld Crater Fill Travel Strategy
The robot executes defined looping or backward movements at the end of the seam while the welding current is controlled downwards. This effectively prevents the formation of end crater cracks and pores.
At the end of the seam, you don't just drive the crater out, but let the tool circle briefly or pull it back a bit. Meanwhile, you reduce the energy so that the molten pool cools slowly and can settle. If you cleanly run out the crater, you avoid cracks and porosity at the weld joint. This is important because an unclean crater start weakens the seam and can later lead to fracture.
