Welding Station Enclosure Booth
A welding booth is a confined work area with integrated air cleaning to protect the environment from welding fumes and dust.
Physico-chemical mode of action
The welding booth filters and reduces airborne pollutants like nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter. It does this with a filter that the air passes through, trapping harmful particles.
Metallurgical relevance & risks in welding
Welding fumes and dust can change the metal's structure and cause corrosion. They can also harm workers' health by irritating the respiratory tract or triggering allergies. The booth protects both the workpiece and the welder.
Workshop practice & instructions
The booth should be sized to provide enough working space and the air cleaning system should always be running. The filters must be serviced and cleaned regularly to keep them effective. Recommended values are an air change rate of at least 10 ACH and a pressure difference of about 25 Pa between the booth and the surroundings.
