Welding Fume Extraction Fan

Welding fume extraction fans are devices that remove welding fume and gases from the workshop. They ensure a clean work area and prevent hazardous substances.

Physicochemical mechanism of action

Weld fume extraction fans pull air with weld fume and gases out of the workshop. The gases are captured by a filter, while the clean air is released again.

Metallurgical relevance & welding risks

Weld fume contains toxic substances like carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide. Without extraction, this can cause health problems, especially with long exposure. Also, the fume can deposit contaminants on tools and parts, affecting weld quality.

Workshop practice & instructions

Use extraction fans with a flow rate of at least 10 m³/min per person. Make sure the fan is placed directly over the weld spot and the air flow is unobstructed. Change the filter regularly (e.g., every 6 months) and clean it as needed.
