Welding Fume Capture Efficiency
Welding fume capture efficiency is the percentage of contaminants successfully extracted by a fume filter relative to the total amount of welding fume emitted. High efficiency means less contaminants enter the environment.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
Welding fume capture efficiency refers to the performance of a fume filter used during the welding process. The filter absorbs chemical compounds and particles from the fume to improve air quality.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
Low capture efficiency means more contaminants get into the air. This can have negative effects on worker health and the environment. Also, unsucked welding fume particles can cause corrosion on machines and tools.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
To make sure you have high fume capture efficiency, do the following:
• Use high-quality fume filters with an efficiency of at least 95%.
• Change or clean the filter regularly (e.g., every 4 hours).
• Make sure the welding fume is routed straight into the filter, with no detours.
