Welding Fume Residual Dust Content

The residual weld fume dust content indicates how many particles remain in the air after the fume has gone through a filter. A low value means the extraction system works well.

Physicochemical mechanism of action

The welding fume residual dust content measures the number of particles in the air after passing through a filter. These particles can come from metal dust, paints, or other materials.

Metallurgical relevance & risks during welding

High residual dust content can cause health issues and impair air quality in the work area. Additionally, dust can settle on workpieces or machines, degrading the weld result and potentially causing cracks.

Workshop practice & instructions

To measure residual dust content, use a particle filter. The value should be below 0.5 mg/m³. If high, check the extraction system and ensure it works properly.
