Anti-Spatter Spray
Welding spray is a separating agent based on silicones or synthetic oils that prevents weld spatter from sticking to the base material.
Physicochemical mechanism of action
Anti-spatter spray consists of a liquid agent based on silicones or synthetic oils. It forms a thin layer on the surface of the material that separates the spatter particles and prevents them from sticking.
Metallurgical relevance & risks in welding
Without anti-spatter spray, spatter particles can stick to the base material and cause cracks or distortion. This can impair the quality of the weld and damage the material's structure. Missing or insufficient spray leads to uneven spatter and increases the likelihood of defects.
Workshop practice & instructions
Use anti-spatter spray before starting the welding process to ensure that spatter particles do not stick. Apply in a thin film of about 0.1 to 0.2 mm to the area to be welded. Make sure to reapply the spray regularly during the welding process to ensure continuous separation.
