Welding Instruction Sheet
A simplified instruction that the worker can directly understand, based on the WPS, for immediate production at the work station.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) is a practical guide that provides workers with the necessary steps and parameters for successful welding. It is based on the material process specification and contains specific details about welding method, materials, temperature control, and other relevant factors.
Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding
An inaccurate or missing WPS can lead to quality issues, such as insufficient weld volume, wrong hardness distribution, or porosity. This can impair the mechanical strength of the weld and cause cracks. Additionally, faulty welding can lead to increased wear and shorter component life.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
To create a successful WPS, the following points must be considered:
• Welding method: Determine the appropriate welding process (e.g., TIG, MIG, SMAW).
• Materials: Specify the exact material types and filler materials.
• Temperature control: Define the specific temperatures for melting and cooling the weld.
• Time specifications: Ensure all necessary time intervals (e.g., t8/5) are met.
• Safety measures: Describe the required protective equipment and safety procedures.
