Welding Procedure Approval Range

The framework defined by ISO 15614 within which welding parameters may be varied without requiring a new procedure test.

The scope of a welding procedure qualification (according to ISO 15614) tells you how far you can deviate from the tested welding parameters without the qualification becoming invalid. If you stay within this range, your qualification remains valid. If you deviate too much, you have to requalify. The range depends on material, thickness, process, and heat input.
