Crevice Corrosion Prevention Pickling

Crevice corrosion prevention pickling removes process residues and scale from narrow joints and gaps to prevent corrosion.

Physicochemical mechanism of action

The crevice corrosion prevention pickling uses a specially formulated pickling solution that removes process residues and scale from narrow gaps and crevices. This prevents the formation of local corrosion cells that could develop in these tight areas.

Metallurgical relevance & welding risks

Without careful removal of process residues and scale, corrosion can occur in narrow gaps and crevices, which shortens the service life of the component. This corrosion can lead to cracking and failure.

Shop practice & procedures

Use a specially formulated pickling solution to remove process residues and scale from narrow gaps and crevices. The pickling time should be at least 5 minutes to ensure all residues are removed. Make sure to work the solution well into all crevices.
