Stress Relief Annealing
Subcritical heat treatment applied to reduce internal residual stresses caused by welding or machining, preserving original mechanical properties.
During stress-relief annealing, you heat the component evenly and let it cool slowly. This relieves internal stresses that arose during welding or cooling. The structure itself remains unchanged, so you don't soften the material, only reduce stress. Temperature and holding time depend on the material and wall thickness. It's important that the part cools slowly and controlled, otherwise new stresses will form.
