Stone/ceramic press die

The brick press compresses or extrudes dry, highly abrasive materials into bricks, slabs, or shapes. The die surface is literally ground away – maximum wear resistance is required.

What a Stone Mold Is

A stone mold presses dry, highly abrasive mixes into concrete stones, slabs, or molded parts. During pressing and extruding, the mold surface is constantly abraded by hard material.

The Load

This is pure abrasion: The mold is literally ground away, especially at edges and transitions. Thermally, the load is low – pressing is done cold or with only slight heating.

The Material

Stone molds need maximum wear resistance: hardened tool steels, often with carbide inserts or hard coatings at critical spots.
