Abrasive Media Recycling
Abrasive recycling separates spent abrasive, dust, and removed material through screening and sieving. It ensures consistent quality in shot and grit blasting.
Physico-chemical mechanism of action
Abrasive recycling is a process in which spent abrasive, dust, and removed material are separated. This is done by classifying and sieving, which cleans the abrasive.
Metallurgical relevance & risks in welding
Incorrect or insufficient recycling can lead to contamination of the abrasive, which can affect the quality of the weld. This can lead to porosity and reduced mechanical properties of the weld.
Workshop practice & instructions
To ensure effective abrasive recycling, the abrasive should be classified and sieved regularly. Classification should take place at least every 24 hours, while sieving should be carried out every 7 days. If there are signs of contamination or a changed color of the abrasive, new abrasive should be used immediately.
