Abrasive Recycling
Abrasive recovery separates used abrasive, scale, and fine dust through air classification and sieving. It ensures a continuous, resource-saving blasting process.
Physico-chemical mechanism of action
The system uses air flow (air classification) and the sieving principle to separate different materials. The used abrasive is recovered through a filter or sieve, while scale and fine dust are removed.
Metallurgical relevance & risks in welding
The recovery of abrasives improves the efficiency of abrasive blasting and reduces consumption. Without effective recovery, pores form in the metal, which affects strength and toughness. Additionally, inadequate filter deterioration can lead to a contaminated abrasive layer, which negatively affects the weld result.
Workshop practice & instructions
Make sure the air classification system is correctly set and the air flow effectively covers the filter. Use a sieve with a suitable mesh size to filter the abrasive and avoid porosity. Check the condition of the filter regularly and replace it when necessary.
