Leakage Field Measurement

Stray flux measurement is a magnetic testing method that detects deep material defects. It uses precise sensors to quantify the escaping field.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

Magnetic flux leakage testing measures changes in the magnetic field within a material. These changes can be caused by microstructural defects or inhomogeneities.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Deep material defects, such as cracks or non-homogeneous structures, impair the mechanical properties of the material. Flux leakage testing detects these defects and thus prevents potential failures or fractures.

Shop Practice & Working Instructions

Use sensors to measure the magnetic field. Carry out the measurement before welding to ensure that the material is defect-free. If defects are found, carry out a repair or use an alternative.
