Tactile Seam Searching
Tactile seam tracking touches the part edges with the welding gas nozzle or a sensor to determine the exact start position and compensate for dimensional deviations.
Physicochemical Mechanism of Action
Tactile seam finding uses physical contact between the welding nozzle or a feeler and the part edges to determine the exact position. This eliminates dimensional deviations and ensures the weld starts in the right spot.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
Missing tactile seam finding can lead to inaccurate start positions, which can result in porosity, unevenness, and possibly cracks in the weld metal. With proper use, the weld quality improves and the risk of defects is reduced.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
Use a mechanical feeler or the machine's built-in tactile function. Make sure the feeler or nozzle makes direct contact with the part edge without applying too much pressure. The exact position should be within 0.5 mm tolerance.
