Thermal Spray Passivation

The application of corrosion-resistant metal or ceramic powders onto steel substrates using thermal energy, where the generated layer serves as a sacrificial or barrier coating in aggressive media.

Thermal spray processes apply a powder material onto a prepared surface. The powder is melted in the spray gun and hits the part as fine droplets. There it solidifies and builds up a coating layer by layer.

If you want to weld afterwards, you have to completely remove the sprayed coating beforehand. The coating is not suitable for welding and will otherwise contaminate the weld. So grind or mill the area to be welded clean and bare.
