Thermal Spraying

A group of coating processes where finely divided metallic or non-metallic materials are melted and deposited at high velocities onto a substrate.

In thermal spraying, you apply the filler material in liquid form and let it cool quickly. This creates a fine, hard structure that protects well against wear and corrosion. Caution: The rapid cooling builds up stresses in the component that can lead to cracks. If you can't control this, let the workpiece cool slowly after spraying or preheat it. Set the spraying parameters so that the coating is uniform and no stress peaks occur.
