Deep Drawing

Deep drawing is a cold forming process where flat sheet metal is formed into a hollow body. It requires pressure and changes the shape without changing the thickness.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

Deep drawing is done by applying pressure to flat sheet metal, forming it into a hollow shape. The process maintains the material thickness and only changes its geometric shape.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Incorrect forming or excessive pressure can lead to cracks or distortions. The material structure can be affected, which influences mechanical properties.

Workshop Practice & Action Guidelines

For deep drawing, use a rigid die and a press. Make sure the pressure is evenly distributed and the material is not overstressed. Regularly check the result for cracks or distortions.
