Titanium Alpha Alloy

Titanium alpha alloy is a special titanium alloy with a high content of aluminum and elements like silicon and vanadium. It combines high strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance.

Titanium alpha alloys are basically weldable, but you have to work clean. The main danger is the absorption of oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen at high temperature – that makes the material brittle. Therefore, an absolutely clean shielding gas area is a must, and it's best to weld in a shielding gas purge chamber or with generous gas trailing.
