Titanium-aluminum-vanadium alloy
The industrially most significant alpha-beta titanium alloy providing an optimal combination of low density, high strength, and elevated temperature resistance. It covers a broad spectrum of structural applications.
Titanium-aluminum-vanadium is a high-strength material that reacts sensitively to impurities during welding. You absolutely must work with clean shielding gas (argon), otherwise the material will become brittle and crack. The heat input should be controlled and not too high, and you must ensure even cooling to prevent stresses or cracks. Best to weld with TIG, and keep the weld zone under shielding gas until completely cooled.
