Titanium-Molybdenum Lattice Distortion
Local strain of the crystal lattice caused by the incorporation of larger molybdenum atoms into the titanium matrix, increasing resistance to plastic deformation.
Molybdenum in titanium causes lattice distortion, which makes the material stronger and harder. When welding, you have to make sure the heat input is right and the part doesn't cool down too fast. Otherwise, you build up internal stresses that can later lead to cracks. If you prepare the weld joint cleanly and let the material cool slowly, the alloy stays stable and you won't have any problems in the shop.
