Titanium Vacuum Annealing

Annealing of titanium semi-finished products under vacuum to remove residual gases such as hydrogen and relieve internal stresses. This prevents undesirable surface oxidation during heat treatment.

Glow the titanium in the vacuum furnace so the residual gases escape and the stresses disappear from the material. If you don't do this, it can lead to cracks or corrosion later during welding. The furnace must be clean and the parts must go in grease-free before you place them inside. The glow time depends on the wall thickness and the quantity, you have to go by experience. Let the material cool down slowly in the furnace, don't bring it down too fast, otherwise you'll build up new stresses.
