Ultraviolet Radiation Protection Regulation for Welders

The ultraviolet radiation protection regulation protects welders from the UV light of the arc, which can damage skin and eyes. Full skin coverage and special filter lenses are mandatory.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The arc in welding emits ultraviolet radiation that can damage skin and eyes. UV light can cause skin burns (erythema) and inflammation of the eye area (keratitis).

Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding

Incorrect or missing protective measures can lead to serious health issues such as skin burns and eye damage. This can not only reduce productivity but also cause health problems.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Welders must always be fully covered and wear special UV filter glasses. The use of protective clothing and filter glasses must be strictly followed to minimize the risk of UV damage.
