Submerged Arc Fused Flux

Fused submerged arc welding flux consists of a homogeneously melted and crushed flux matrix that is moisture-resistant and chemically stable.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

Submerged arc fused flux is made by melting a metal powder and then crushing it. This process results in a homogeneous matrix that is well suited for welding.

Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding

This flux matrix is insensitive to moisture and chemically stable, making it easy to store and handle. However, too high a content of impurities or incomplete crushing can lead to contamination that may affect weld quality.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Use the flux in a protected environment and handle it with careful hygiene. Make sure the impurity content stays below the specified limits. Crushing should be done precisely to ensure a homogeneous matrix.
