Vanadium Precipitation Hardening

Formation of submicroscopic vanadium carbides or nitrides during cooling, contributing to a noticeable increase in the yield strength of the material.

Vanadium is a strong carbide and nitride former. If you have it in the weld metal, hard particles form that make the structure stronger and harder. That's good for wear-resistant overlays, but it can also mean the weld becomes more brittle. So be careful not to heat the material unnecessarily and control the cooling. If the weld pool cools too quickly, it can lead to stresses and cracks. Keep the pool clean and protect it well, then you'll have robust, hard weld metal with vanadium.
