Virtual Commissioning
Simulating welding processes on a digital model to detect errors before the actual build and shorten the ramp-up phase.
Physicochemical Mechanism of Action
Virtual commissioning simulates the welding process on a digital model by mimicking physical processes such as heating, cooling, and deformation of the material. This allows analyzing the effects of various parameters like voltage, temperature, and travel speed.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
The simulation helps identify potential issues such as porosity, hot cracking, or uneven deformation before actual welding. This reduces planning errors and minimizes the number of rework in the physical setup.
Workshop Practice & Procedures
To perform a successful virtual commissioning, the following steps must be taken:
1. Create an accurate digital model of the component and the welding sequence.
2. Enter all relevant material data and process parameters such as voltage, temperature, and travel speed.
3. Run the simulation and analyze results for porosity, deformation, and hardness distribution.
4. Adjust the welding sequence based on simulation results and rerun the simulation if necessary.
