Heat Treatment Record

The heat treatment record continuously logs the temporal temperature progression during annealing or tempering of welded structures. It serves as quality proof for the reduction of residual stresses.

The heat treatment protocol documents the temperature over time during annealing or tempering. If you don't work cleanly, you won't properly relieve residual stresses, and that will cause cracks or distortion in the part later. You must record the temperature and holding time exactly; otherwise, you can't trace or repeat the process. Make sure the part cools slowly and uniformly, and log the values right when you read them.
