Thermal Conductivity Temperature Integral
A mathematical tool for integrating temperature-dependent thermal conductivity during transient heat flow calculation in welded structures. It improves the accuracy of analytical temperature field models.
The thermal conductivity-temperature integral is a tool to account for the fact that heat conduction in the workpiece is not constant but decreases with increasing temperature. If you ignore this in your welding planning, your heat model will be wrong, and you risk distortion or cracks in the weld. In practice, this means: you need to know the thermal conductivity of your material over the relevant temperature range and incorporate it into your calculations accordingly. Only then can you truly control the temperature distribution in the component and set the welding parameters properly.
