Artificial Aging

Thermal process carried out at elevated temperatures to precipitate fine particles and enhance strength in alloys like aluminum.

You do warm aging when you want to achieve a certain strength or a stable structure in an alloy after welding or hardening. The part is held at an elevated temperature for a certain time so that the structural components precipitate evenly and the material does not remain brittle. Just be careful not to set the temperature or time too high or too long, otherwise the material will overage and become soft or brittle. Especially with aluminum, you have to work cleanly, otherwise you'll degrade the mechanical properties again.
