Hydrogen Diffusion Reducing Agent
Hydrogen diffusion reducers are chemical additives that reduce hydrogen in weld metal and coating. They prevent porosity and improve mechanical properties.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
Water diffusion reducing agents react chemically with hydrogen in the weld zone to reduce it. This prevents hydrogen from diffusing as a pore former and damaging the material.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
Without these agents, excessive hydrogen content can lead to porosity and cracking. This reduces the strength and toughness of the weld metal, leading to premature failure.
Workshop Practice & Action Guidelines
Use water diffusion reducing agents in coatings or fillers when welding high-performance steels. Pay attention to correct dosage and application volume to ensure effective reduction of hydrogen content.
