Water-gas reaction shielding gas
A specialized gas mixture that deliberately influences the chemical composition of the weld bead through controlled dissociation in the arc.
For normal steel welding in the shop, you use either pure CO2 or a mix gas like Corgon, that is argon with a CO2 content. Pure CO2 is cheap and gives decent penetration, the mix gas spatters less and the weld looks cleaner. Hydrogen or other exotic gases you don't need for everyday work, that's special stuff for special materials.
