Low-Hydrogen Shielding Gas
A gaseous medium with minimized dew point that prevents the diffusion of atomic hydrogen into high-strength steel microstructures during solidification.
Low-hydrogen shielding gas has a low dew point. That way you prevent moisture from getting into the weld. If hydrogen diffuses in, it causes cold cracks in the structure, you don't want that. You mainly need this stuff for higher-strength steels and when welding thick plates. Make sure the gas cylinder is stored dry and the hose is tight. If the weld is to stay clean and crack-free, you can't get around dry gas.
