Resistance Brazing
Resistance brazing heats a joint by electric current flow, giving precise heat input.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
The electricity flows through the metal and creates resistance. This resistance causes the material to heat up at the point of current flow.
Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding
This method allows very precise temperature control, which is especially useful for delicate processes. However, inaccurate current regulation can lead to overheating or underheating, resulting in faulty welds or distortion.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
Use a welding torch with a suitable current regulator. Ensure good contact between the electrode and the metal. Start with a low current and increase it slowly until the desired temperature is reached. Monitor the temperature constantly and adjust the current flow as needed.
