TIG Hot Wire Welding
A variant of TIG welding where the filler wire is preheated by electrical resistance before entering the weld pool. This significantly increases the deposition rate without thermally overloading the primary arc.
In hot-wire TIG welding, the filler wire is preheated electrically before it enters the weld pool. This makes it melt faster, and the arc needs less energy for the wire. That increases the deposition rate and makes the weld cleaner because the arc stays more stable. You heat the wire with a separate circuit; the setting depends on material and wire diameter—it must not get too hot, or it will drip or burn. In practice, that means: first feed the wire cleanly, then adjust the heating power so it drips cleanly into the weld pool without spattering.
