Tungsten Inert Gas Welding

An arc welding process utilizing a non-consumable tungsten electrode and inert gas shielding to achieve superior weld quality in precision applications.

In TIG welding, the arc burns between a non-consumable tungsten electrode and the workpiece. Shielding gas, usually argon, keeps air and thus oxidation away from the weld pool. You feed the filler metal by hand while the arc provides the heat. This process is great for clean, precise welds, especially on stainless steel or aluminum. If you adjust the gas flow or set the electrode angle wrong, you'll burn the material or the weld will become porous. Keep the distance and movement steady and even, then it'll be fine.
