Pulsed TIG Welding
A tungsten inert gas welding process with cyclically alternating current between background and peak levels for targeted microstructure control. It improves grain refinement in the weld metal and reduces thermal stress.
When TIG welding with pulsed current, you alternate between a lower background current and a higher pulse current. The pulse ensures good mixing of the weld pool and better control of heat input. The result is a finer grain structure and a more stable weld pool, especially on thin sheets or in positional welding. If you set the pulse correctly, you get a clean, uniform weld with less distortion. Make sure the background current is high enough to prevent the weld pool from freezing, but low enough for the pulse to have its full effect. Set the frequency and current levels by feel and material – there are no general values, you have to try it out.
